The United Methodist Church Partnership Build Days
Volunteers play a vital role in the project’s completion. It is extremely important that all scheduled volunteers attend their build day. A shortage of volunteers will ultimately delay the homeowner’s closing date.
Important Notes for All Volunteers:
This is a FULL-DAY volunteer commitment. Volunteers need to arrive by 7:45am and can expect to stay until 3:30pm. Volunteers who arrive after the morning meeting starts at 8am will NOT be permitted to stay and build.
Bring your lunch (and snacks if you need them!). Leaving the site to get lunch is not permitted.
Bring a refillable water bottle. HFHSL provides water at all of our build sites, however we do not provide individual cups or bottles.
Come dressed to work! Closed–toe and closed-heel shoes are required. Wear clothing and shoes that you do not mind dirtying. Sunscreen and a hat are advised as well as dressing in layers. If you have safety glasses or work gloves that fit you well, you are welcome to bring them. Habitat will provide everything else you need to get the job done.
Volunteers MUST be over 16 years of age. NO EXCEPTIONS! Volunteers between 16-18 years old cannot use power tools or work on ladders. 16 and 17 year olds should download and print a waiver here, have it signed by a parent and/or legal guardian, and bring a signed copy to the build site.
Do you need to an official record of your volunteer time? See the Community Service Hours Brochure for the steps necessary to get a validation letter from HFHSL. (This program applies to court-ordered community service, corporate giving matches, high school graduation requirements, professional licensing/development requirements, etc.)
Additional questions? See the Volunteer Brochure for further details.
