High School, College, Trades and Other non Court-Ordered Community Service
Important: If this is your first time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis, you must attend Volunteer Orientation.
Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis for non court-ordered community service is simple. When you first volunteer with us, whether on the build site or in the ReStore, ask for an orange timecard and log your hours on this card. When you have finished volunteering for the day, ask Habitat staff to initial your card to prove you volunteered that day. Do not forget to bring your orange timecard every time you volunteer. Once you are ready to get a validation letter, follow the instructions below.
Court-Ordered Community Service
If you are wishing to complete court-ordered community service hours, please check if you are eligible. Individuals not able to volunteer with us are those who have been charged with or plead guilty to one of any of the following offenses, including but not limited to: Armed Robbery, Assault, Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Arson, Robbery and Statutory Offenses (Sexual Abuse, Sexual assault and Rape). Individuals charged with or having pleaded guilty to the following offenses can be approved on a case-by-case basis: DWI, DUI, Drug Possession, Drug Sale Offenses, Violation of Probation, Burglary or Theft.
If you are eligible to volunteer, fax, mail or email Beckie Fingland at firstname.lastname@example.org proper documentation from the Courts, a lawyer or Probation/Parole Officer that states your name, the specific offense and the required amount of hours to be served.
Once proper documentation has been received and approved, schedule a time to meet with Beckie Fingland to receive a validated, yellow timecard to track your hours. Available meeting times are 12pm-3pm on Mondays and 10am-12pm on Wednesdays. Any hours served before the yellow timecard is validated will NOT be counted.
As with non court-ordered community service, you must have a Habitat staff person initial your card at the end of the volunteer day or shift. Once you have completed your required hours, follow the instructions on receiving a letter of validation.

Once you have reached your desired or required hours of service, fax both sides of the time card to 314-371-0440 or mail/drop it off at: Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis, Attn: Beckie Fingland, 3763 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108. Your request will be processed within two weeks of receipt and a letter will be mailed or faxed to the address given.
